This edition of Ad Orientem chronicles the continued progress of the new seminary in Virginia and highlights the March for Life in Washington, D.C. Brick is being laid onto large portions of the new seminary and several improvements are under way.
On November 28, His Excellency Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais conferred the Order of Diaconate on three subdeacons. The total number of deacons at the seminary is now up to seven. The windows at the new seminary in Virgina have been installed, brick is being layed on its exterior and a large donation of interior furnishings was given, including chairs, desks, and other supplies.
On Friday, June 12, His Excellency Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais raised four men to the priesthood of Our Lord Jesus Christ and likewise four to the diaconate in Winona, Minnesota.
His Excellency Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais honored the Seminary with a visit shortly after Christmas and explained the events of the Society in its beginnings during conferences given over a week's time. At the begining of March, His Excellency again visited the Seminary to confer the minor orders and the subdiaconate.
This issue includes the latest progress of the construction of our new seminary in Virginia. Finish designs are presented; roofing is placed above the temporary chapel; and Fr. Suárez, the General Bursar of the SSPX, visits the site. Also included is some news from Winona. Seminary professors and seminarians participate in this year's Angelus Press Conferences; the newly ordained Fr. Jamey Rigi celebrates a First Mass at STAS; and six priests make their perpetual engagements, while seven seminarians make their first engagements in the Society.
On June 13, His Excellency Bishop Bernard Fellay raised seven young men to the priesthood and five to the diaconate in an ordination ceremony. Construction work on the main seminary building in Virginia is again in full force after an intentional delay.
This spring, Bishop Fellay, accompanied by seminarians from Winona, will visit the new seminary in Dillwyn, Virginia. Project updates and pictures reveal the steady progess being made at the new seminary.
